TheStarSyndicate responds:

omg, it's ArtistJ, expect an IM any minute now.

seems pointless

sure, you animate nicely. you showed a few people get shot, and a bank robber totaly badass. but it was way too quiet, lacked most sound. it came off really unoriginal and sorta bland. i would have liked it more if there was some music, and better charecter development. Honestly, i recomend you put out one great peice that took a week rather than getting anzious and submitting a days work. voices and humor would help tremendously.

Gregg-Dix responds:

Ya i know it needs a lot. I will try harder in later submissions. thnx.

As always, T0MMY,

you never fail to impress me. Only two days went into this, and to me that’s nearly unfathomable that such a nice project can come out of only two days. It has really inspired me to do another time trial of my own.

I loved how you seamlessly wove Flash and Photoshop, which is something many people struggle with. It was so Smooth, whereas when most people import bitmaps they get rasterize’d improperly. I loved how you used the Grass and flower brushes supplied in that PS brush pack to really work as Backgrounds for you. That flower brush is by far my favorite Photoshop brush because its so versatile. The slight movements were the real keeper here, as well as the blurs and other transitions. the Border was sweet, but I wouldn’t use that clouds filter so much. i never thought that filter made it look like sky.

The character itself was unbelievably realistic and active and i liked that. The Heart you drew was incredibly lifelike, and i loved the slight coloration you added to give it depth. The Vector skulls, Damn! those were beyond cool, even though they only lasted a few frames.

As far as the music, i am not a big Afi fan, but I really like how you took the song and gave it a very original plot, with your heart and thoughts all relating to the stars. ‘Twas maybe to deep for me to catch, or maybe I am reading into the madness too much. In any case the song and movie corresponded well. It was fast paced without any down time.

Overall It was Dark and hard, and a thousand times more entertaining than the play-doh gimmicks of a certain well known Dub'er to whom you probably didn’t prove anything to since he only rates how good a flash is based on its Daily feature awards.

In any case, It was a really nice short film, and really quenched my thirst for something artsy. Thank you.

T0MMY responds:

I agree, the sky filter I used in photoshop really doesn't look like the sky, however I chose to use it because 1)it was quick to create--I was on time constraints, and 2)it seemed rather stylized and fit in with the sylized stars, grass, and flowers.

Kind of funny you mention the heart and skulls, I drew those out really quickly without any reference to work off and they turned out really nice. I almost didn't keep the skulls in there, because they didn't seem to fit the movie, but they looked so nice I kept them in.

Thanks for the really nice review.

I figgured my half assed pre-emptive submission

wouldnt make the cut, but im glad it didnt, it would have been embarassing anyway seeing as it was so shoddy. Everyones was way beter than i expected, and the submision as a whole seemed too good to be true. I particularly must congradulate TOMMY for pulling this all off and keeping his head through all the chaos (and adding nifyt audio that fit too well to be real). I assure everyone involved it was worth all the work. I hope theres another one day. If there is, im sure ill invest significantly more time into it.

T0MMY responds:

Actually, I tried keeping your part in there. But there was some major problems with the sound and had to be cut at the last minute. If I can get it working I'll have it in the bonus section.

best livecorpse tribute EVER!

this was great. It detailed the story, was well animated. Had some great graphics imported as well. Soundtrack was fighting. Heaven was hillarious. Sallright! Briliant. Hell was Awesome. I wouldnt like fridays in hell either! ha ha ha. Great job. Youre effort didnt go to waste.

eddiebalin responds:

You call THAT a "tribute"???

I am disapointed that my lines were cut from

the movie.. they realy did ad development to the charecter of Frigt. This was still the best new epic to hit newgrounds in ages, and i hope i can be a part of the future submissions. This took so much skill, & you just have been added to my favorit authors list! But i know you hate being pat on the pack and all, so ill leave it at that, but i will say, you beter get used to it, because when this hits front page, and it will, you'll have a stack of reviews a mountain high.

ShadowInsignia responds:

Thanks man, this is the most meaningful, (sniffle) ahh, somethins in my eye. I didn't mean to cut your part, i just make things up as I go along, and friht just got blammed from the movie, sorry. But hey, next time for sure.

Looks like someone...

...watched a bit too much fast&furrious.I like this. alot of direfent angles implemented. Kinda crappy with the bitmaped backgrounds, but those still were probabaly hard to find, and since the things you actualy did animate were good- i cant knock you down for it. Audio was ok. I guess it helped you that i am a limpbizkit fan. The text realy should have been voiced over though instead of just text. This is so euro just by the text and the cars driving on the left with steering on the right. I know all of us americans make a big deal of it, but its funny to us. the helicopters were cool, and when the men came down they looked prety good, not all stick like and crap. This realy was one of the better flashes ive watched today, and i wish you luck in youre future projects.

outsiderzero responds:

Thank you very much! The British Maniac is actually the 1st in a trilogy that I've been making over the past few years (this first one was made in 2001). Yeah, the backgrounds are pretty crappy, but they get better in the sequels, as do the rest of the graphics. Kinda funny too, considering I'm from Texas and I made a movie about a crazy British guy, but anyway. Thanks again!

Wickedly vicious

I loved it. It was fast paced, violent, crazy and well done. I loved the creatures, and the graphics, superb... The perfect mix of tweening and frame by frame. A masterpeice!

boardermike responds:
